Dessert gets progressive with this easy individual apple tarts.

1/3 cup butter
1/4 cup confectioners sugar
1 egg
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 1/3 cups flour
2 Granny Smith apples, thinly sliced and peeled
4 teaspoons sugar
4 teaspoons melted orange marmalade

In large bowl beat together butter and sugar until light and fluffy; add egg and salt. Gradually stir in flour until soft dough forms. To omit this step substitute sugar cookie dough.

Heat oven to 375 degrees F. On lightly floured surface, roll dough into a 10-inch square; cut into four 5-inch squares.

Place squares on baking sheet; turn up 1/4 inch of edges of all squares to make a thick edge. Arrange apples slices on each square; sprinkle each with 1 teaspoon sugar. Bake 25 minutes. Brush apple slices with marmalade and return to oven for three minutes.
