pork chops and applesauce eh?

Remember when Peter wanted to be like Humphrey Bogart? He thought he was too boring and tried out his new accent on Alice? They had a mighty fine discussion about pork chops and applesauce. In thinking about a very Brady recipe we're convinced Alice's pork chops were Shake N' Bake. So instead, we're guessing how her applesauce was made. Some of us believe it came from a jar, but the rest would like to think otherwise.

3 pounds peeled, cored, and quartered granny smith apples.
4 strips lemon peel
Juice of a lemon
1 cinnamon stick
1/2 cup white sugar
1 cup water
1/2 teaspoon salt

Put all ingredients into a large pot. Cover and bring to boil. Lower heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Remove from heat. Remove cinnamon sticks and lemon peels. Mash.
